What happened

On August 18, 2025, at approximately 13:00 Pacific daylight time, a Jabirwatt experimental amateur-built aircraft, N824DW, experienced a total loss of engine power. The incident occurred approximately 3.5 miles northwest of the Albany Municipal Airport (S12) in Albany, Oregon, while the aircraft was at an altitude of 1,500 feet mean sea level.

Following the power loss, the pilot attempted an off-airport landing in an open field. During the landing roll, the aircraft exited the field and struck a hazelnut grove. The impact resulted in substantial damage to both wings. The pilot was not injured.
