What happened
On December 12, 2025, at approximately 14:31 CST, a Sonerai II, registration N28MD, was involved in an accident near Cressman, Texas. The aircraft was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 for personal use.
According to the pilot, the aircraft had just finished a high-speed pass along the runway. While performing a downwind turn, the engine began to exhibit abnormal sounds and behavior, accompanied by fluctuations in the RPM gauge. In response to the engine issues, the pilot turned back toward the runway to execute an emergency landing.
During the landing attempt, the aircraft overran the runway and entered a ravine. The impact with a tree caused substantial damage to the fuselage and the wing. The pilot sustained one serious injury.
