Paraglider Crash in Puchuncaví Results in Serious Injuries

A pilot sustained serious injuries after a paraglider impacted a hillside during a recreational flight in the Valparaíso Region.

What happened

On March 29, 2025, at approximately 16:55 local time, a paragliding accident occurred in the Maitencillo – Cerro Tacna area within the Puchuncaví commune. The aircraft, a BGD Cure 2 unmotorized ultralight (paraglider) with no registration, was being operated for recreational purposes at the "Aire Libre Parapente" site. During the flight, the pilot took off from the launch site but experienced a rapid descent, which led to an impact against the slope of a hill.

As a result of the impact, the pilot sustained serious injuries. The paraglider itself remained undamaged following the event.
