What happened
On September 28, 2025, at approximately 18:00 local time, a commercial paragliding flight in the Maitencillo sector of Puchuncaví experienced a mid-air loss of control. The flight, involving a pilot and one passenger, was performing a scheduled southbound route before beginning the return leg toward the takeoff area. During the return maneuver, the aircraft encountered a sudden descent that caused the lower limbs of both occupants to strike a rocky outcrop on a coastal slope.
Despite the impact with the terrain, the pilot managed to maintain enough lift to continue the flight and successfully reached the designated landing zone. The passenger sustained serious injuries, while the pilot suffered minor injuries.
