What happened
On December 17, 2007, an EMB-201 aircraft, registration PT-GHX, operated by Aero Agrícola Nova Mutum Ltda., was performing a ferry flight from Campo Verde to Feliz Natal, Mato Grosso. The purpose of the flight was to transport the aircraft for an inspection required for the renewal of its Airworthiness Certificate.
While flying over Fazenda Paraíso, the pilot was searching for the landing strip. During the flight, the pilot became distracted by observing the surrounding agricultural plantations. This distraction led to a collision with a tree, resulting in the loss of control and a subsequent impact with the ground. The aircraft sustained severe damage, while the pilot sustained minor injuries.
Notably, the accident was not immediately reported; the aircraft was discovered two months later, completely disassembled in a hangar at Campo Verde, which led to the eventual investigation.
