What happened
On May 21, 2015, a Cessna 210L, registration PR-ORA, performed an emergency landing in a clearing approximately 100 meters from the runway at São Félix do Xingu, Pará. The aircraft, which was likely en route to the São Félix do Xingu airport, sustained substantial damage during the landing. At the time of the occurrence, there were two occupants on board, though the exact level of injury sustained by the passengers could not be determined.
The investigation
CENIPA investigators were unable to complete a full analysis of the accident due to several critical obstructions. Following the landing, the pilot attempted to conceal the aircraft's registration. Furthermore, the aircraft was removed from the accident site and transported to an unknown location without authorization from the SIPAER investigation authority or local police. The pilot was not located by authorities following the event, and the operator failed to report the accident to the SIPAER system.
Due to the lack of official information and the intentional interference with the site, investigators could not establish the specific type of occurrence or the contributing factors to the landing.
Findings
- The aircraft's Annual Maintenance Inspection (IAM) had been expired since August 23, 2014.
- The Certificate of Airworthiness (CA) had been suspended since September 23, 2014.
- The operator failed to notify the SIPAER authority of the accident.
- The pilot intentionally obscured the aircraft's registration after the landing.
- The aircraft was removed from the scene without legal authorization.
