What happened
On September 10, 2021, a Cessna 182P, registration PT-JIH, crashed into a forested area near the Garimpo Carolina mining site in Itaituba, Pará. The flight was a cargo operation departing from an unregistered airstrip, intended for another unregistered location in the same region.
Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft entered a left bank and, within minutes, struck a tree in the forest. The impact was characterized by high speed and a pronounced pitch-down angle. The aircraft subsequently caught fire, which destroyed the airframe and resulted in the fatal injuries of the pilot.
