What happened
On September 22, 2015, at approximately 19:15 local time, a Cessna 210K, registration PR-FMP, landed at the Jacareacanga Aerodrome (SBEK) in Pará, Brazil, with its landing gear in the retracted position. The aircraft was operating a private flight and carried a total of four occupants, including the pilot and three passengers. All individuals on board remained uninjured during the event.
The landing occurred after the local Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) office had closed for the day. Following the touchdown, the propeller blades sustained damage. Because the landing gear was not extended, the pilot, with the assistance of local bystanders, manually lifted the aircraft to facilitate the extension of the gear. The aircraft was then moved to a parking area within the aerodrome.
The investigation
CENIPA's investigation established that the aircraft's Certificate of Airworthiness was valid at the time of the occurrence. However, the investigation faced significant obstacles as the pilot was not identified and failed to report the occurrence to the authorities. Furthermore, the aircraft was moved to an unknown location following the incident, and the propeller was replaced the following day.
Due to the lack of reporting and the movement of the aircraft, the investigation was ultimately interrupted. Under Brazilian aeronautical regulations, CENIPA may cease investigations when there is evidence of illegal acts or when the investigation is unlikely to yield new information for accident prevention.
