What happened
On December 2, 2018, a Neiva EMB-720C, registration PT-RDZ, departed from Aldeia Mataware, Pará, bound for Laranjal do Jari, Amapá. The aircraft was operating a private flight carrying a pilot and seven passengers.
Approximately 28 minutes into the flight, the aircraft's satellite tracking system indicated its last signal within the municipality of Almeirim, Pará. The aircraft failed to reach its destination, and despite search efforts that concluded on December 17, 2018, no wreckage or survivors were located. Due to the absence of debris or any further data, the aircraft was officially declared missing.
The investigation
CENIPA conducted an investigation into the disappearance, noting that the pilot held valid private pilot and single-engine land ratings, as well as a valid medical certificate. The aircraft's airworthiness certificate was also up to date at the time of the flight. Meteorological conditions on the day of the occurrence were reported as favorable for flight.
However, the investigation was unable to determine the status of the aircraft's weight and balance or the extent of any damage to the airframe. Because no wreckage was recovered and no information regarding injuries to the eight people on board could be established, the investigation was formally interrupted.
