What happened
On February 19, 2014, a Cirrus SR2కి2, registration PR-JHR, departed from the Novo Progresso Aerodrome (SJNP) in Pará, Brazil, bound for the Rondonópolis Aerodrome (SBRD) in Mato Grosso. During the flight, at an undetermined time and location, the aircraft disappeared.
No radio contact was established following takeoff, and the aircraft was not detected by radar systems. While search operations were conducted along the flight path by Salvaero Amazônico, the aircraft was not found.
The investigation
The investigation relied heavily on information gathered from news media. Investigators were unable to confirm the exact number of people on board, though the identity of the probable pilot was identified through press reports.
Technical checks confirmed that the probable pilot held valid medical certification and a valid single-engine land (MNTE) rating. Additionally, the aircraft's airworthiness certificate was valid at the time of the occurrence. However, investigators were unable to access specific maintenance and flight log information from the aircraft's records. As of the report's conclusion, the aircraft and its occupants remained missing.
Findings
- The aircraft and all occupants remain unlocated.
- The contributing factors to the disappearance are undetermined.
