What happened

On July 8, 2018, a Champion 7GC46 aircraft, which was equipped with floats, departed from Deer Lake in West Nipissing, Ontario. The aircraft was carrying two people at the time of the flight. During the flight, the aircraft was seen flying at a low altitude along the edge of the lake. While following the perimeter, the aircraft's nose pitched upward and a wing dropped, causing the aircraft to enter a spin. The plane subsequently struck wooded terrain in a steep, nose-down position. The impact triggered a fire, and both occupants were killed.
