What happened
On the morning of 4 November 2018, a mid-air collision occurred in the airspace near the Carp Airport, situated west of Ottawa, Ontario. The incident involved two separate aircraft operating in the vicinity of the airport at approximately 10:10 EST.
One of the aircraft involved was a Cessna 150, which was carrying a single occupant. Following the collision, the pilot of this aircraft sustained one fatality.
The second aircraft, a Piper PA-42 (Cheyenne III), was also in flight with two people on board at the time of the impact. Following the encounter, the crew of the Piper PA-42 (Cheyenne III) managed to navigate the aircraft to the Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport, where they successfully landed at roughly 10:30 EST.
The investigation
The TSB conducted a Class 4 investigation into the collision. This type of investigation is limited in scope and focuses on the immediate circumstances of the occurrence.
