What happened
On 1 May 2019, a Piper PA 46-350P Malibu Mirage was performing a visual flight rules flight departing from Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, with a destination of Narsarsuaq, Greenland. The aircraft was carrying a pilot and one passenger.
Following the departure, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre identified a signal from the aircraft's emergency locator transmitter. Subsequent search efforts located the wreckage on a snow-covered hillside situated roughly 31 nautical miles north-northeast of Rigolet, Newfoundland and Labrador. While both individuals on board survived the initial impact with the terrain, one occupant later succumbed to their injuries.

The TSB conducted a Class 4 investigation into the accident. This type of investigation is limited in scope and focuses on the circumstances surrounding the occurrence.
