What happened

On 19 July 2024, an Ayres S2R-R1340 was engaged in an aerial application mission near Birsay, Saskatchewan. The aircraft, which was operated by Precision West Ag Corporation, had departed from the Rosetown Aerodrome to spray a local field.

Following the completion of the first application pass over the field, the aircraft struck the flat terrain. The impact caused significant damage to the airframe. Although the emergency locator transmitter was activated following the collision, no fire occurred at the scene.
