What happened
On 15 May 2016, a Pegasus Quantum 15-912, registration G-BZYN, was performing a training flight at Sandy Airfield in Bedfordshire. The aircraft was carrying two occupants: a student pilot and an instructor.
As the aircraft was completing its landing roll, it began to veer toward the right side of the runway. The aircraft subsequently left the paved surface and tipped over onto its left side. There were no injuries to the crew or passengers, though the aircraft sustained damage to both the wing and the trike structure.
The investigation
The investigation was based on the aircraft accident report submitted by the pilot. During the process, the instructor's observations were reviewed regarding the control of the aircraft during the final stages of the landing. The investigation focused on the steering inputs provided during the excursion.
