What happened
On 27 June 2015, a Putzer Elster B, registration G-APVF, was performing a private flight when it experienced an incident during landing at Top Farm Airfield, Cammentshire. While attempting to land on Runway 24, the aircraft made a heavy touchdown. The impact of the landing caused significant damage to the landing gear struts and the points where the gear attaches to the fuselage.
There were no injuries to the pilot, and no passengers were on board at the time of the occurrence.
The investigation
The investigation was based on the aircraft accident report form submitted by the pilot. The examination focused on the physical damage sustained by the airframe and the circumstances surrounding the landing on the specified runway.
