What happened
On 5 July 2012, an Aerotechnik EV-97A Eurostar, registration G-CBRR, was performing a private flight at a farm strip in Raveningham, Norfolk. The flight was conducted in calm weather conditions. As the aircraft was completing its landing, the left main tyre experienced a puncture.
At a speed of approximately 20 kt, the pilot experienced a significant vibration and a sudden swing to the left. The pilot was unable to correct this directional deviation, causing the aircraft to veer off the strip and into a field of standing crops adjacent to the landing area. The aircraft came to an abrupt halt. There were no injuries to the pilot or the passenger.
The investigation
The investigation was based on the aircraft accident report form provided by the pilot. The physical damage to the aircraft included a punctured left tyre and the collapse of the right landing gear leg.
