What happened
During an arrival from Timişoara, the flight crew began their approach to Bucharest-Otopeni-Henri Coanda Airport amidst unfavorable weather. Upon landing, the aircraft experienced significant challenges in decelerating on the runway. Due to the wet state of the runway surface, the aircraft drifted toward the right side of the pavement. As the plane moved off the paved area, the right main landing gear was severed upon impact with the soft earth. The aircraft eventually stopped in a position straddling the edge of the runway.
Findings
- The primary factor in the excursion was the wet runway surface which contributed to the loss of directional control.
- The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
- There were 0 fatalities and 0 injuries among the 73 occupants on board, as everyone evacuated the plane successfully.
