What happened
A medical transport flight departing from Montería-Los Garzones Airport ended in a fatal accident while en route to Medellín. The twin engine airplane was operating an ambulance mission, transporting a medical team consisting of a doctor and a nurse, along with two pilots.
Approximately 30 minutes after takeoff, the aircraft was maintaining a cruising altitude of 19,000 feet. During this phase of flight, the aircraft began a descent and experienced a significant loss of airspeed. The aircraft eventually reached a stall condition, leading to a crash into a prairie area. The impact caused the wreckage to ignite, and there were four fatalities among the occupants.
Findings
The accident occurred when the aircraft's speed decreased to the point of an aerodynamic stall during its descent.
