What happened
During the landing phase at Bronson Creek Airport, the aircraft experienced a structural failure when the right main landing gear collapsed upon contact with the runway. Following the collapse, the right wing made contact with the runway surface. This impact caused the aircraft to lose directional control, leading it to veer away from the paved surface and into an adjacent grassy area.
All three occupants on board managed to exit the aircraft without serious harm, sustaining only minor injuries. The aircraft itself sustained significant damage during the excursion and was subsequently declared a total loss.
Findings
- The primary factor in the loss of control was the collapse of the right main landing gear during touchdown.
