What happened
During an afternoon mission intended for firefighting operations, an aircraft crashed into Lake Duru, situated approximately 50 km northwest of Istanbul. The aircraft, which was being operated on behalf of the Municipality of Istanbul (Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi) under a lease from Società Richerche Esperienze Meteorologiche (SOREM), was engaged in a scooping maneuver at the time of the accident. Following the impact, the aircraft caught fire and was completely destroyed. There were three occupants on board, all of whom sustained injuries during the event.
Findings
