What happened
During a scheduled cargo operation from Valera-Dr. Antonio Nicolás Briceño Airport to Punto Fijo-Josefa Camejo Airport, a twin engine aircraft encountered mechanical difficulties. The flight was transporting a load of valuables along with a crew of two pilots and one passenger.
As the aircraft was performing its approach to the destination, the crew experienced technical issues that necessitated an emergency landing. The crew chose to ditch the aircraft in the water located near the Amuay refinery. Following the impact, the aircraft settled in shallow water. The three occupants managed to reach the roof of the fuselage to await assistance. Rescue teams arrived within minutes to recover the crew and the passenger.
