What happened
On the morning of the accident, an aircraft was conducting a positioning flight from Rome to Bologna. The purpose of the flight was to collect a medical team intended for an ambulance mission. Following clearance for takeoff at 0554LT, the aircraft departed from runway 15 at Rome-Ciampino Airport at 0600LT.
During the initial climb phase, the crew received clearance to proceed to Bolsena at FL240. However, shortly after this clearance, the aircraft entered an uncontrolled descent. The aircraft struck the ground near a cattle barn, resulting in its disintegration upon impact. There were two fatalities involving the crew members on board.
At the time of the crash, the local weather featured light rain and winds originating from 140 degrees at 18 knots. Cloud coverage included few clouds at 1,800 feet, broken clouds at 3,000 feet, and scattered clouds at 7,000 feet, with an outside air temperature of 13° C.
