What happened
On November 10, 2025, a Cessna 206TU, registration HK641, was performing a non-scheduled transport flight from Bocoa Aerodrome to Mitú, Colombia. During the takeoff roll on runway 12, the aircraft encountered resistance due to wet and muddy ground conditions. Witnesses from the local Bocoa community observed that the aircraft utilized the entire length of the runway but failed to establish a positive rate of climb.
As the aircraft attempted to depart, it performed a slight left turn and struck trees in the vicinity. The initial impact involved the empennage striking a tree approximately 0.7 NM from the takeoff point, causing the tail section to fracture and detach. Subsequently, the right wing struck another tree, leading to a loss of control. The aircraft entered a longitudinal roll, inverted, and impacted the terrain. A massive post-impact fire ensued, consuming approximately 90% of the airframe. There were four fatalities among the occupants, including the pilot.
The investigation
The GRIAA conducted a field inspection the day after the accident. Investigators established the sequence of impacts and the structural disintegration of the aircraft. The wreckage was located in a forested area south of the Bocoa runway threshold. The investigation is currently focused on reviewing maintenance records, inspecting the engine, propeller, and accessories, and analyzing weight and balance data. Additionally, investigators are reviewing organizational safety procedures and conducting follow-up interviews with witnesses.
