What happened
During a night departure from runway 17 at Buenos Aires-Ezeiza-Ministro Pistarini Airport, the flight crew encountered mechanical difficulties shortly after the climb phase began. Following the report of these technical issues, air traffic control authorized the crew to perform an immediate return to the airport for landing.
As the aircraft progressed through the final approach, the onboard situation deteriorated. The crew attempted to execute an emergency landing at the Esperanza Golf Course. During this maneuver, the aircraft type struck a tree and crashed approximately 5 km before reaching runway 35. The impact and subsequent fire caused the total destruction of the airframe.
Findings
All five fatalities occurred as a result of the impact forces and the post-crash fire. The primary factor in the accident was the attempted emergency landing at a golf course following the onset of technical malfunctions during the initial climb.
