What happened
While performing a takeoff roll on runway 19L, the aircraft experienced a deviation from the runway centerline. At a velocity of approximately 100 knots, the aircraft drifted toward the right side of the strip. Although the pilot-in-command attempted to rectify the deviation using rudder inputs, the aircraft eventually made contact with the right shoulder of the runway.
Following this contact, the aircraft exited the paved surface and entered a nearby grassy area, where it underwent a roll before coming to a complete stop several dozen meters from the runway. There were no fatalities among the 52 occupants, all of whom managed to evacuate the aircraft safely. However, the aircraft sustained extensive structural damage to the fuselage, rendering it a total loss.
Findings
- The aircraft drifted from the centerline during the high-speed portion of the takeoff roll.
