What happened
On November 21, 2008, at 07:40 UTC, a Gulfstream G5, registration CS-DKE, operated by Net Jets, was involved in a ground collision at Farnborough Airport (EGLF), specifically at Stand D. While taxiing from its parking position toward the takeoff position, the aircraft's left winglet made contact with the right winglet of another aircraft, registration C-GGLO, which was parked in the adjacent position.
The investigation
The investigation established that the contact occurred during the taxi phase of an executive flight. The collision resulted in no injuries to the four occupants on board the CS-DKE (three crew members and one passenger). The impact caused scratches to the paint on the left winglet of the CS-DKE and resulted in a fractured right winglet on the stationary C-GGLO.
Findings
- The collision was caused by the left winglet of the taxiing aircraft striking the winglet of a parked aircraft.
- There were no injuries reported for any personnel involved.
- Damage was limited to the winglet structures of both aircraft involved.
