What happened
On 11 February 2009, two separate incidents involving Grob 115E Tutor aircraft, registered as G-BYUT and G-BYVN, occurred near Porthcawl, South Wales. The initial investigation into these occurrences was documented in AAIB Report 6/2010.
The investigation
Following the publication of the original report, a formal correction was issued to address inaccuracies within the glossary of abbreviations. The investigation established that the terminology used to describe the rescue coordination body required precise definition to ensure clarity in aviation safety documentation.
Findings
- The investigation identified a discrepancy in the naming of the Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre.
- The original text incorrectly identified the acronym ARCC as the Area Rescue Co-ordination Centre.
- The corrected record confirms that ARCC stands for the Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre.
