What happened
During a flight from Tehran to Khorramabad, the aircraft experienced a failure of its right engine while maintaining cruising altitude. Following the mechanical issue, air traffic control provided the crew with clearance to perform an emergency diversion to Arak Airport.
Upon reaching the destination, the aircraft landed at the facility; however, during the landing sequence, the plane lost control and veered off the runway. The incident resulted in the aircraft being damaged beyond repair. Despite the severity of the excursion, all 27 occupants managed to exit the aircraft without sustaining any injuries.
Findings
- The primary mechanical issue was identified as a failure of the right engine during the cruise phase of flight.
