On March 16, 2014, at 17:00 UTC, a Cessna 172RG, registration PT-MDA, was performing a repositioning flight from Resende Aerodrome (SDRS) to Valença Aer and (SDVL). The flight was being operated for private purposes with one pilot and one passenger on board.

During the landing sequence at SDVL, the pilot failed to extend the landing gear. As a result, the aircraft performed a belly landing, sliding along the runway before veering gently to the right. The aircraft remained within the runway boundaries. The impact caused substantial damage to the engine and propeller, along with superficial damage to the elevator tip, the right wing, and the lower cowling.
