What happened
On April 20, 2014, a Cessna 210N, registration PT-ONB, was performing a ferry flight from Mossoró, RN, to Açu, RN. During the flight, the pilot diverted to the Caicó aerodrome (SNKK) in Rio Grande do Norte.
Upon landing on runway 32, the pilot lost directional control during the landing roll. The aircraft veered to the left, exiting the runway and coming to a stop approximately 10 meters from the left edge of the pavement. As the aircraft encountered uneven terrain while off the runway, the left main landing gear collapsed. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the elevator and the left horizontal stabilizer. The pilot and one passenger were both uninjured.
The investigation
CENIPA's investigation into the incident revealed several regulatory irregularities. The investigation noted that the Caicó aerodrome was not officially certified for aeronautical operations. Furthermore, the pilot was operating with an expired technical flight rating (CHT) that had been invalid since December 201 and had submitted a flight plan using the ANAC identification code of another pilot.
Additionally, the investigation was interrupted because the occurrence was not reported to the investigating authority, and the aircraft was removed from the scene without the required authorization from the investigating command.
