What happened
On August 2, 2017, a Cessna 172R, registered as PT-WCO, was performing a private flight from Piracicaba Aerodrome to Comandante Rolim Adolfo Amaro Airport (SBJD) in Jundiaí, São Paulo. The flight was conducted under favorable meteorological conditions.
After landing on runway 36, the pilot attempted to taxi toward taxiway C. During the application of the brakes, the aircraft experienced an abrupt deviation to the right, crossing the right lateral boundary of the runway. The aircraft subsequently returned to the runway centerline and continued the taxi maneuver under its own power.
The investigation
CENIPA conducted an investigation into the loss of control on the ground. The inquiry confirmed that the pilot held a valid medical certificate and appropriate single-engine land ratings, with sufficient experience for the flight. The aircraft was found to be in a valid airworthy condition, with all maintenance logs up to date, and was within weight and balance limits.
As the investigation did not reveal new elements that would contribute to the prevention of future occurrences, the proceedings were interrupted in accordance with Brazilian regulatory protocols.
