What happened
Prior to departure, the crew engaged in discussions regarding touch-and-go landing procedures while proceeding to the aircraft for boarding. For this short repositioning flight, the captain occupied the right-hand seat, leaving the co-pilot to operate the controls from the left seat.
During the takeoff sequence, the aircraft experienced a premature liftoff and failed to climb out of ground effect. As the flight progressed, the aircraft exhibited slight oscillations in roll attitude. This was followed by a sudden and rapid roll to an inverted position, leading to an impact with the ground. Following the collision, the engines remained operational and were set to high power settings. There were two fatalities resulting from the accident.
Findings
Investigations into the wreckage revealed no mechanical failures or material discrepancies that would have compromised engine power or the controllability of the aircraft. The investigation determined that the primary factor was the premature liftoff of the aircraft during the takeoff phase.
