What happened
On December 25, 2007, a CL-604, registration D-ARWE, operated by JetConnection Businessflight AG, was performing charter flight LCX 826. The flight was scheduled to travel from Hannover, Germany, to Macau, China, with a planned stop for refueling in Astana, Kazakhstan. The aircraft was operated by a crew consisting of a captain, a first officer, and a flight attendant, carrying one passenger.
During the flight, the crew learned that the destination airport in Astana lacked sufficient fuel availability for the aircraft's requirements. Consequently, the crew decided to divert the flight to Almaty, Kazakhstan, to complete refueling. The flight from Hannover to Almaty proceeded without any reported technical issues or system malfunctions.
The investigation
The aircraft landed in Almaty at 18:46 UTC. Ground services, provided by Bercut Air Services KZ, performed the necessary refueling and anti-icing procedures as requested. The captain conducted the pre-flight inspection and personally supervised the refueling process, as well as the de-icing of the wings and stabilizer. The aircraft was loaded with 8,460 liters (6,827 kg) of suitable fuel. According to the captain's statements, no discrepancies were noted regarding the aircraft's systems or equipment during the ground operations.
