On July 13, 2020, an Antonov An-2, registration RA-40851, was performing agrochemical work near the settlement of Kistenevo in the Bolsheboldinsky District. The aircraft was being operated under a contract for the aerial chemical treatment of crops using liquid organic fertilizer.
The crew, consisting of the pilot-in-command and an aircraft engineer, had arrived at the Bolsheboldino airfield the previous day. Following refueling with AI-95 fuel, the crew underwent a rest period of at least eight hours. On the day of the accident, the pilot-in-command decided to proceed with the flight based on the prevailing weather conditions.
During the flight, the aircraft RA-40851 struck a reinforced concrete support and power lines. The collision occurred while the aircraft was operating at an extremely low altitude during a race. The impact resulted in the deaths of both the pilot-in-command and the aircraft engineer.
Records indicate that no notification for the use of airspace had been submitted to air traffic control authorities prior to the flight. The aircraft was being used by Individual Entrepreneur Utkin under a lease agreement with LLC "Zeus-Avia."
