On June 14, 2024, an An-26-100, registration RA-26662, was operating a scheduled charter passenger flight between Utrenniy airfield and Sabetta airfield. The crew, which included a captain, second pilot, navigator, flight engineer, and flight attendant, had completed their pre-flight medical examinations at the Utrenniy airport terminal earlier that morning.
During the daytime approach to the destination, the aircraft encountered weather conditions that were below the established minimum operating limits for the airport. The aircraft landed approximately 955 meters before reaching the runway threshold, resulting in a collision with a snow embankment.
There were no fatalities or injuries reported in the incident. The investigation noted that the crew failed to maintain the parameters required for a stabilized approach and did not execute a go-around procedure when necessary.
Additional findings indicated that the aircraft descended below the established minimum descent altitude (MDA/H) without sufficient visual contact with ground references. The captain also failed to correctly identify the runway and its associated landmarks.
