On August 3, 2020, an An-7larTK-100, registration RA-74044, operated by JSC UTair, was performing flight UNO 052P from Bamako Airport (GABS) to Gao Airport (GAGO). The aircraft was transporting four UN staff members and seven crew members. Prior to departure from Bamako, the crew performed pre-flight preparations and received meteorological information, though no medical examination was conducted due to the lack of a medical professional at the departure airfield.
During the flight, the aircraft encountered icing conditions, prompting the crew to activate the wing, tail, and engine anti-icing systems. The aircraft's takeoff weight was 31,474 kg, and the center of gravity was 24% MAC. Following the flight, the aircraft landed in a de-energized state with wing flaps retracted and without the use of spoilers or engine reverse thrust for braking.
Immediately after landing, the aircraft's wheel braking system failed because the crew applied the brakes at speeds significantly exceeding the limits specified in the Flight Manual. During the subsequent taxiing maneuver, the aircraft deviated from the runway and collided with a sewage collector. There were no injuries or fatalities reported.
