What happened
On June 14, 2018, a charter flight operated by Bravo Airways, identified as BAY 4406, was traveling from Antalya to Kyiv (Zhulyany). The aircraft, an MD-83 with registration UR-CPR, was operated by a crew consisting of a pilot in command, a co-pilot, and five flight attendants. The flight experienced a significant delay of approximately six hours due to the late arrival of the aircraft at the departure airport.
During the approach to runway 08 at Kyiv (Zhulyany) Aerodrome, the flight crew utilized the ILS system while navigating through thunderstorm activity. At approximately 05:40 pm, during the landing roll, the aircraft experienced a runway excursion. The plane drifted to the left of the runway, eventually coming to a stop 123 meters away from the runway centerline, outside of the cleared and graded area. The excursion occurred at a distance of 1260 meters from the runway threshold.
Findings
While the aircraft sustained substantial damage to its structural components, there were no serious injuries reported among the passengers or the crew. The investigation noted that the landing took place during active thunderstorm activity.
