What happened
On 12 August 2015, a PAC-750XL aircraft, operating under the registration PK-KIG, departed from Wamena Airport in Papua for an unscheduled flight to Ninia Airstrip. The flight, managed by PT. Komala Indonesia, was scheduled to arrive at approximately 2248 UTC.
During the approach phase at an altitude of roughly 6,500 feet, the aircraft experienced a critical instrument failure. According to reports from the pilot, the airspeed indicators began displaying zero velocity, which subsequently triggered the aural stall warning. During this period, the aircraft was observed flying parallel to the runway on its left side. Following this, the aircraft entered a left turn and climbed before ultimately impacting the ground approximately 200 meters southwest of the Ninia runway.
There were six people on board the aircraft, including the pilot, an engineer, and four passengers. The accident resulted in one fatality and five injuries. The engineer was killed in the crash, while one passenger sustained minor injuries. The remaining three occupants, including the pilot, suffered serious injuries. Following the impact, the injured were transported to medical facilities in both Wamena and Jayapura.
