What happened
On 11 April 2010, a Pegasus Quik, registration G-TCNY, was performing a private flight when it encountered difficulties during its landing phase at St Michael’s Airfield, near Preston, Lancashire. As the aircraft was touching down on a dry grass runway, it lost stability and tumbled. The impact resulted in damage to the aircraft's propeller, fuselage pod, and wing. Both the pilot and the single passenger sustained minor injuries during the incident.
The investigation
Following the occurrence, the AAIB examined the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the landing. The investigation focused on the loss of control as the aircraft transitioned to the ground. A subsequent inspection of the aircraft's components was conducted. During this process, the pilot noted that the nosewheel tyre might have been under-inflated prior to the landing attempt.
