What happened
During a flight traveling from El Paso toward Toluca, the aircraft was operating at a cruising altitude of 37,000 feet. In an effort to navigate around an active thunderstorm, the flight crew received clearance to ascend to 41,000 feet. Shortly after this maneuver, the aircraft began an uncontrolled descent.
The descent continued until the aircraft impacted the ground in the vicinity of the village of Las Carboneras. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were four fatalities among the occupants of the flight.
