What happened
On the evening of 14 February 2025, an Airbus A321-211, registration PK-TLG, was completing a scheduled flight from Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang. The flight, operated by PT. TransNusa Aviation Mandiri, was performing an Instrument Landing System (ILS) approach for Runway 15 under nighttime conditions. While the approach itself encountered no reported irregularities, the aircraft suffered a severe hard landing upon touchdown.
Following the impact, the aircraft vacated the runway and proceeded to the Skypark Terminal. There were no fatalities among the 180 people on board, though the incident resulted in significant damage to the aircraft, including cracks in a pylon bracket, suspected skin buckling, and damage to various flap and engine components.
The investigation
AAIB Malaysia began its investigation after being notified of the event by the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) on 27 March 2025. Notably, the operator had not directly reported the incident to Malaysian authorities at the time of the occurrence.
Investigators examined the flight records, including the Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder, and reviewed the crew's operational status. The investigation also looked into the maintenance logs and the circumstances surrounding the crew's duty period, noting that both pilots had operated different aircraft types on the same day and had a rest period of less than one hour prior to this flight.
