What happened
On August 28, 1965, a Turbulent D, registration HB-SVF, was operating at the Sitterdorf airfield. During the landing phase, the aircraft failed to stop within the intended distance. In an attempt to halt the plane, the pilot applied heavy braking, which subsequently caused the aircraft to overturn.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the sequence of events during the landing roll. It was established that the aircraft's landing distance was excessive, necessitating an abrupt deceleration. The physical impact of the braking maneuver led to the aircraft flipping over.
Findings
- The primary cause of the accident was excessive braking following a landing that had gone too long.
- The aircraft sustained various damages, valued at approximately 500 Swiss Francs.
- The pilot remained uninjured during the incident.
