What happened
On February 27, 2016, at approximately 11:40 local time, a ground collision occurred at Birrfert Airport (LSZF). The incident involved two aircraft: a Diamond DA 40 D, registration HB-SDT, and a Tecnam Katana DV 20, registration HB-SCP.
The HB-SCP was stationary at the holding point for runway 08, prepared for departure. Simultaneously, the HB-SDT was taxiing toward a fuel station. During this maneuver, the HB-SDT was following behind the HB-SCP when its left wing made contact with the rudder of the stationary aircraft.
There were no injuries to the pilots of either aircraft, and no third-party damage was reported. While the HB-SDT sustained no damage, the HB-SCP experienced light damage as a result of the impact.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the taxiing sequence and the positioning of both aircraft at the time of the contact. The authorities examined the movements of both the departing aircraft and the aircraft in transit to the refueling station to determine the sequence of events leading to the wing-to-rudder contact.
