What happened
On 16 May 2022, a Cirrus RS72K, registration TC-AYH, operated by ER-AH Havacilik Tic. Ltd. Sti., was involved in an aircraft accident at Kelaynak Airfield. The aircraft was being operated by a student pilot. During the flight, the aircraft approached Kelaynak Airfield with the intention of landing; however, after bypassing the airfield, the pilot was forced to perform an emergency landing on the terrain.
There were no fatalities or injuries resulting from the event. The aircraft sustained heavy damage during the impact with the ground.
The investigation
The investigation was conducted by the Transport Safety Investigation Center (UEİM) in accordance with national and ICAO Annex 13 regulations. The investigation focused on the sequence of events leading to the decision to bypass the airfield and the subsequent forced landing on the terrain.
