What happened
On February 10, 2021, a Piper PA-18-150, registration TG-CUB, was performing a flight operation at the Finca Santa Rosa airfield, located in the municipality of Tiquisate, Department of Escuintla, Guatemala. During the landing phase of the flight, the aircraft failed to stop within the runway limits.
The investigation
The investigation conducted by the DGAC/UIA examined the aircraft's maintenance records, the pilot's qualifications, and the physical evidence at the landing site. Investigators confirmed that the aircraft was in an airworthy condition, with all maintenance performed according to the manufacturer's program. The pilot held a valid license and met all necessary medical and qualification requirements for the flight. The investigation also noted that the aircraft was not carrying any passengers or additional cargo at the time of the event.
