What happened
On October 2, 2011, a Cessna 182P, registered as TG-NAM, was involved in an aviation accident at the Huehuetenango Aerodrome in the department of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. The aircraft was operating in the area when the occurrence took place.
The investigation
The investigation conducted by the DGAC/UIA examined the aircraft's maintenance history and operational status. Records indicated that the aircraft's engine, a Continental O-470-54B, and the McCauley propeller had undergone recent inspections and service at an authorized maintenance organization. Documentation showed that the aircraft was undergoing a process for the renewal of its airworthiness certificate around the time of the incident. The investigation reviewed the aircraft's technical logs, including engine time since overhaul and total time, to determine if mechanical failures contributed to the event.
