What happened
On April 29, 2012, a Cessna 182Q, registration TG-PET, was involved in an aviation accident in Guatemala. The aircraft impacted the ground at the "Lucifania" farm, located in the municipality of Rio Bravo, within the Suchitepéquez department.
The investigation
The investigation conducted by the Unidad de Investigación de Accidentes (UIA) of the DGAC examined the aircraft's maintenance history and the environmental conditions at the time of the event. Records indicated that the aircraft's engine and propeller had recently undergone overhaul services. Meteorological data for the morning of the accident showed calm winds and visibility reduced by haze, with the Santa María volcano showing activity in the region.
