What happened
On December 22, 2011, a Beechcraft Bonanza F33A, registration TG-PKS, was involved in an aviation accident at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. The aircraft was operating in the vicinity of the airport during the afternoon. Meteorological reports from the airport's weather station indicated favorable flying conditions during the period of the occurrence, with visibility exceeding ten kilometers and light winds from the northwest.
The investigation
The investigation conducted by the Unidad de Investigación de Accidentes (UIA) of the DGAC examined the aircraft's maintenance records, the pilot's experience, and the environmental conditions at the time of the event. The investigation reviewed the aircraft's airworthiness certificate renewal requests, which noted the aircraft's engine and propeller certification status. Additionally, the investigators analyzed official meteorological data provided by INSIVUMEH for the window of 14:00 to 16:00 local time to determine if weather played a role in the sequence of events.
