What happened
On 14 March 2017, an S92A helicopter, registered as EI-ICR, was involved in an accident at Black Rock, Co. Mayo. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this event has been ongoing since the date of the occurrence.
The investigation
As the investigation reaches its second anniversary, the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) has issued an interim update regarding the progress of the inquiry. The investigators have indicated that the preparation of a draft report is currently at an advanced stage.
Rather than releasing a new, detailed interim statement, the AAIU has chosen to focus its resources on finalizing the draft report. Once the draft has been completed, it will be distributed in confidence to all relevant interested parties for review.
